Ten years of Fluid

For the team at Fluid, November 2003 feels like a world away... it’s been exactly ten years since it all began, armed with a few macs, some second-hand furniture and plenty of big ideas.

A decade down the line and Fluid’s team has grown almost as speedily as their reputation. Their creative, strategic and digital marketing agency continues to thrive despite spending half of its existence in the midst of an economic ‘crisis’.

As far as Managing Director Phil Harvey is concerned, the formula for their success has been pretty simple. “We’re huge believers in the power of good ideas, and always make sure we twin our creativity with a complete commitment to our clients' best interests and an unerring focus on results. Start-ups today should never underestimate the power of good old-fashioned grit and determination.”

Fluid proudly boasts a client base of highly respected local organisations, including the University of Derby, both the City and County Councils, Cooper Parry and Innes England to name but a few.

But their influence spreads far beyond Derbyshire and the East Midlands. Having carved a specialism in the UK care sector, the team at Fluid has been the creative impetus behind many of healthcare’s biggest brands. And in recent years their work has seen increasing demand from abroad too, with successful projects completed in Holland, France, Germany, South Africa, Australia and across Asia.

Despite an increasing profile and growing client commitments in both domestic and international markets, Phil and his team are adamant that they’ll always find the time to contribute to good causes in their local community.

“We’re fortunate to have a nice bunch of people who really get a buzz from making a difference wherever we can. We’ve raised tens of thousands for charity recently, and despite there only being 12 of us, we’ve been the top ‘corporate’ fundraisers in the Derby 10k for the past four years!”

As a natural extension of these fundraising efforts, in 2012 Fluid agreed to partner Sporting Futures – a charity committed to helping disadvantaged young people across Derbyshire.

Their impact on charitable donations was immediate. Stuart Felce, Director of Sporting Futures commented: “The guys at Fluid have done so much to help us move to the next level – the website in particular has generated results far beyond what we could have ever hoped for. As a business, they truly integrate themselves into the wider community, and Derbyshire is a better place as a result.”

Looking ahead, the future seems bright for Fluid. Their digital expertise is in huge demand, meaning they’re always on the look-out for talented people, whilst there are a number of high profile branding projects on the horizon for 2014 – as Ed Bowler, Director of Fluid explains...

“There are some very exciting things happening at the moment. 2014 will see the launch of two really important campaigns for the Royal College of Nursing, and we’re finally treating ourselves to an identity refresh and a brand new website too. We’ll always stand by our promise to exceed the expectations of our clients, and hopefully it’ll stand us in good stead for our next decade!”
